The annual Pocket PC
magazine Best Software Awards helps users select software that best suits
their Windows Mobile Pocket PC and Smartphone needs by honoring companies that
produce outstanding software.
The awards are divided into
three sections:
consumer software for Pocket PCs, consumer software for Smartphones, and
software for developers.
Nominees have been finalized. Winners and
Finalists will be determined by the 90 members of Pocket PC magazine’s Board
of Experts. Finalists will be announced in late September, winners in
October on this Web site. You may read complete details about the winners in
the 2006 Buyers Guide, available early November, mailed free to Pocket
PC magazine subscribers.
Pocket PC magazine’s New Products Editor, Diane Dumas, and our
Board of
Expert judges selected the 2005 award nominees. Approximately 20% of the
software in the
Encyclopedia of Software and Accessories was nominated. These nominations
become frozen on July
15, 2005, and only products and versions released by July 15, 2005 are
eligible for the voting. Christian Forsberg of
www.businessanyplace.net and Bob Katayama of
www.han-d-solutions.com headed a team of experts to determine nominations
for Developer Software.
In
addition, Pocket PC magazine also gives annual Community Outstanding
Achievement Awards. These annual awards are given to individuals and their
organizations whose extraordinary contributions benefit the entire Windows
Mobile community.
If you have a suggestion for nominations, please use our
suggestion form. All suggestions received prior to July 15 were considered.
Nominated products should be in top 20% of their category. Submissions received
after July 15 will be considered for next year’s awards. IMPORTANT: before
submitting the form, first check if the product is in our
Encyclopedia of Software and Accessories. If it isn’t, you will
need to provide us with company contact information (URL, E-mail address), as we
can only nominate products in our database. You can also use the form to suggest
a product is wrongly nominated or miscategorized.
Despite our best efforts, we will likely overlook strong
products. The closer it is to July 15, the less chance that your suggestion will
be nominated. Please use one form for each suggestion:

magazine forums to voice your opinion about which products are your favorites
and should win awards.
Over
75 experts in Pocket PC and Smartphone software from around the
world help select the nominations and determine the award winners. These
experts are prominent Web Sites associates, Microsoft MVPs, support forum
contributors, and Pocket PC magazine contributors. These are all
volunteers and none are employed by Pocket PC magazine.
The Board of Experts casts
votes to determine the winners. These judges also submit comments about the
software for future publication in Pocket PC magazine. More details,
