Source for iPAQ parts for do-it-yourself repair
I have a friend with an iPAQ h2215 with a broken display. I was wondering if HP used the same screen on any other models. If so I could swap screens and try to fix it.

Each series has their own display and I do not believe they can be interchanged. You might check the iPAQ Parts Web site (http://www.ipaqparts.com) to see if they have a replacement screen.

Also, Pocket PC Techs (http://www.pocketpctechs.com) offers upgrade and repair service for Pocket PCs including the iPAQ 2200 series: one of their listed repairs is replacement of a broken LCD display and touchscreen.
Handheld PC MPG player and PDF viewer
I have an older HP Jornada 720 Handheld PC. Where can I get the software which would allow me to read PDF files and view MPG movies?
Bill Spivey
MpegTV makes a Handheld PC version of their MPG player, Pocket TV. More information is available on the Pocket TV Web site (http://www.pockettv.com). Ansyr has a Handheld PC version of their Primer PDF viewer. More information is available on their Web site (http://www.ansyr.com/products/windows/primer31/). At $50 and $80 respectively, both programs are relatively expensive. Fortunately, free evaluation copies of both programs are available on their Web sites.
The most comprehensive listing of third party software for the Handheld PC is called PDALogiciels (http://perso.wanadoo.fr/mettavant/pdalogiciels.htm). It's a French language site, but the software titles are listed by their English name and screen shots are provided, so you can figure out what's going on. A good portion of the software is freeware.

Pocket TV is an MPEG video player available for the Handheld PC as well as Pocket PCs and Smartphones.
Likes PocketPCTechs
Based on an article in your magazine a few months ago, I contacted PocketPCTechs about upgrading my iPAQ 3870 with additional memory. I want to report that it was a pleasant experience working with them. One of their people (Lloyd) was quite helpful with aftermarket service when I asked him how to use the additional 128 SRAM that they installed. We spoke a few times on the telephone and communicated via e-mail and he was quite helpful in sorting out the technical issues with me. I would certainly recommend them to any of your subscribers who want to upgrade their Pocket PC memory.
