I am running Vista Home Premium + SP1 on Acer TravelMate laptop with built in BT adaptor. I have the Widcomm 5.1.0.1100 BT drivers installed (Windows ones wouldn't install fully).
My iPAQ hw6915 activesync's with WMDC without problems using USB cradle. Bluetooth connections work fine with all devices including my iPAQ. ActiveSync always connects ok to Bluetooth. I can also use file transfer & hook up to COM port to get iPAQ GPS feeding laptop.
The one thing I can't get is WMDC to bind with my BT ActiveSync COM port (COM4) - it just shows no connection after briefly displaying connecting. My iPAQ displays "User Authenticated" just briefly after laptop reports ActiveSync connection to COM4.
I have edited registry HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE services\Serial Port changing entry to "COM4" with WMDC set to match. I have also tried changing name of service on laptop to "Serial Port" & "Bluetooth Serial Port" instaed of ActiveSync to no effect. In fact connection from iPAQ wouldn't work then. I had to create another ActiveSync connection on iPAQ that accepted Bluetooth Serial Port to connect. I have also tried deleting COM port & recreating COM4 to no effect. Everything still works fine but no connection to WMDC. Also tried with/without security - on iPAQ this is shown as "encryption" whilst on laptop Widcomm shows it as "secure connection".
Strangely during these experiments it has connected on two occasions but once dropped will not connect again.
I have seen mention that an incoming COM port is required on PC but Widcomm doesn't give that option. Opening "Bluetooth Devices" on Control Panel gives this option but shows no bluetooth device to update so assume it's something left over from Windows BT drivers.
Any suggestions?
