News: Free VoIP Client Runs On Windows Mobile Devices

In an article on windowsfordevices.com, the author discusses the news of Fring releasing its free VoIP software for Windows Mobile 5 and 6 devices. The article said in part:

"Fringland Ltd. has ported its free mobile VoIP software to Windows Mobile 5 and Windows Mobile 6 devices. Fring allows users to make free VoIP phone calls and conduct multiple live chat sessions through Skype, Google Talk, MSN Messenger, and many other SIP service providers, according to the company."

The release of this software may signal a rise in popularity of using VoIP software for phone calls.

Tip#367: Enable High Resolution Mode In Internet Explorer Mobile

If you have a Windows Mobile 6 device with a VGA display, you can take advantage of it in Internet Explorer by using its "High Resolution" mode. In Internet Explorer, go to Menu >View >Use High Resolution. This setting will enable you to view more content by shrinking its size yet still maintaining clarity.

Jim Karpen's Hot Web Site of the Week: Skweezer Update

It’s great to see Skweezer continuing to forge ahead as a leading mobile portal to the Internet. It not only offers great search capability, but also dynamically reformats every Web page you look at so that it fits the small screen of your device. And it’s free.

Yesterday saw the launch of Skweezer 4.0. According to the press release, it’s been updated “from top to bottom with one goal in mind: to get users to the content they're looking for as quickly as possible.”

The user interface has been redesigned to reduce keystrokes and take advantage of "hot key" navigation that utilizes a phone's keypad.

One especially helpful and innovative new feature is "find in page," which allows you to quickly jump to specific content within a web page. When you do a search and click on a result, a link will appear at the top of the destination web page that conveniently allows you to search for your term within that page.

Other new features include search results from multiple search engines, with the final results selected on a case-by-case basis, determined by your device type, location, and other factors. Also, improved handling of those facets of web sites that often are troublesome on mobile devices, such as frames, forms, and scripts.
