News: I-mate Releases Budget Windows Mobile Phone

In an article on windowsfordevices.com, the new I-mate "Jama" Smartphone was discussed. The article said in part:

"I-mate has launched an entry-level Windows Mobile 5.0-based PDA/phone. Reportedly designed to sell for an "extremely competitive" price, the "Jama" omits Wi-Fi or a QWERTY keyboard, but includes all other typical essentials.

For example, the Jama is powered by a 300MHz Samsung processor and is equipped with 64MB of RAM and 128MB of flash, plus a 2 mega pixel digital camera. It can run Windows Instant Messenger and Media Player 10 Mobile, plus Office Mobile applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint."

The introduction of this "competitively priced" touch screen device from I-mate may be a sign that Smartphones are beginning to merge into the general cell phone market.

Review: Free Windows Mobile Utilities

In an article in the Aug/Sept 2007 issue of Smartphone & Pocket PC magazine, author Dan Hanttula discusses several different utilities for your Windows Mobile unit. He says in part:

"The word "utilities" may elicit unpleasant memories of hefty winter electric bills or interrupted phone service. But when used in Smartphone & Pocket PC magazine, it refers to small programs that perform very specific tasks. Windows Mobile has a number of utilities built into it, allowing you to change the look and feel of your device, monitor and adjust system resources, and more. Whether built in or installed by the user, utilities can help you customize your device to fit your needs, and help you deal with tasks you must perform or problems you may face on a day-to-day basis."

Article: HTC S710: The Balance between Form and Function

In an article in the Aug/Sept 2007 issue of Smartphone & Pocket PC magazine, author discusses the HTC S710 Smartphone. He says in part:

"Form and function. These sometimes conflicting goals have driven manufacturers crazy ever since the first mobile device was on the drawing boards. Manufacturers want to market compelling, feature-rich devices, but every feature they add to a device increases its size and weight, thus decreasing its portability. The most recent attempt to find this "sweet spot" comes from HTC in the form of their recently announced S710 Smartphone (a.k.a., HTC Vox)."
