Review: Smartphone Insider

In an article in the Aug/Sept 2007 issue of Smartphone & Pocket PC magazine, editor Dan Hart the strengths and weaknesses among other useful information about the Palm Treo 700w/wx and 750. He says in part:

"The introduction of the Treo 700w in January of 2006 marked Palm's first release of a Windows Mobile device. With it Palm included a customized Today screen that improved the usability of Microsoft's Windows Mobile 5 OS. Users now had the freedom of using a Pocket PC Phone Edition device that was optimized for one-handed operation. Frequently-done tasks such as searching Contacts or the Web could be performed quickly with the QWERTY thumb keyboard rather than having to navigate through menus using the touchscreen and stylus. In September 2006, Palm released the Treo 700wx, an updated version of the 700w that had an increase of 32 MB of RAM. January 2007 saw the release of the Treo 750, a GSM world phone version with a lighter, redesigned body and a softer feel. The 700wx is currently available from both Verizon and Sprint, while the 750 is available from Cingular (now AT&T). Unlocked versions of the 750 are available online from onthegosolutions.com and other vendors."

Article: A Winning Pair of JAQs

In an article in the Aug/Sept 2007 issue of Smartphone & Pocket PC magazine, author discusses I-mate's new JAQ3 and JAQ4. He says in part:

"
NOTE: At press time, I-mate had not confirmed whether it will release the JAQ4 in U.S. A company spokesperson said I-mate would be offering units of similar functionality as part of their Urban line of products sometime in the third quarter.

I-mate introduced its first JAQ in the fall of last year. It was a lightweight Windows Mobile 5 Pocket PC Phone Edition device with a spacious keyboard, but it was criticized by reviewers for being bulky and lacking integrated Wi-Fi capability. Early in 2007, i-mate followed up with the release of the JAQ3, and has more recently announced the JAQ4, a Windows Mobile 6 Professional device that may be available by the time you read this review. Here, we will cover both the JAQ3 and 4."
