Fragile is for flowers. Poets. Figurines.

Not mobile professionals.

Let’s face it. No mobile professional wants to deal with numerous communication devices — each one more fragile than the next. That’s why Motorola designed the durable, all-in-one MC35 Enterprise Digital Assistant. Now you can combine the voice and data capabilities your business needs with the backend connectivity you want — all in a small, lightweight form factor that allows your people to make calls, send and receive email, connect to the Web, read bar codes and even get directions via GPS. Best of all, the MC35 is durable enough to handle all-day, everyday use in a variety of settings. It’s just another way Motorola puts Seamless Mobility in the palm of your hand. HELLOMOTO™.

Now available on the new AT&T.

News: Sony Ericsson's XPERIA X1 shows its face

In a post on pocketpcthoughts.com, Sony Ericsson's first Windows Mobile device is discussed. The article said in part:

"Sony Ericsson's debut Windows Mobile device is not to be dismissed. It packs 400MB (presumably, RAM and ROM combined), a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, a high-resolution WVGA (800 x 480) touch screen, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, aGPS, an FM radio, a 3.2-megapixel auto-focus camera with flash, a Memory Stick Micro slot, USB mass storage support out-of-the-box, and quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA (800/950/1700/1900/2100) connectivity, all in a high-quality, high-finish metal body."

This new device combines impressive specs and a UI that should directly compete with the iPhone.

Tip: Configure touch screen devices to use GPS

Windows Mobile 5 and 6 touch screen devices have a GPS setup program called “GPS” (or “External GPS”) located in the System tab of Settings. This program allows you to set up and run more than one GPS application simultaneously. The GPS setup program has three tabs:
  • The Programs tab is used to specify the port from which programs will access GPS data. The important thing here is to make sure that this port is the same one that is selected in the configuration settings of your GPS application.
  • The Hardware tab is used to specify the port to which your GPS receiver is connected. The GPS setup program will automatically detect most GPS receivers and configure this port for you. If it doesn’t do this for your GPS receiver, select the port to which your GPS receiver is connected, as well as the appropriate baud rate for your receiver. Note that the hardware port must be different from the one specified in the program port.
  • The Access tab has a single check box labeled “Manage GPS automatically.” It is highly recommended that this box always be checked. Otherwise, only one program at a time can access your GPS receiver.

Article: Pros and Cons: Windows Mobile Non-Touch Screen Smartphones

Windows Mobile phone-enabled devices without touch screens were first introduced in 2002. Since then, the OS and software suite have gone through significant changes and have improved markedly.

The smartphones reviewed and discussed in this section use the Windows Mobile 6 Standard or the previous Windows Mobile 5 for Smartphone OS (Operating System). They have the functionality of a PDA (e-mail, appointments, contacts, etc.) and an iPod (music, videos) together, and let you stay in touch with your office and check your e-mail on the go.
