Ball Breaker: Zuma

By: Tim Hillebrand

Zuma involves shooting epigraphy coated colored balls from the mouth of a swiveling frog that you control in a harried attempt to explode three or more balls of the same color moving along a track before the whole pack reaches the skeleton's mouth, and he swallows them all, and you are defeated in humiliation. It's a simple game in concept, but the play gets more intense as you progress through thirteen stages of seven levels each. Sometimes there are two skulls waiting to consume the balls. Each stage represents conquering a different temple in your ultimate quest to vanquish Zuma.

Choosing Tools: Herocraft’s Stolen In 60 Seconds

By: Werner "Menneisyys" Ruotsalainen

When I first saw the screenshots of this new title over at PocketGamer.org, I thought at once it’d be just a remake of AIM’s well-known Pocket PC / Smartphone oldie “Done In 50 Seconds” (or, as far as games similar to the AIM classic are concerned, Simbsoft’s “Railroad Jam”) quickly reviewed for example in the Pocket PC Games Bible Part I.

Fortunately, the situation is way different and there is little resemblance to AIM’s evergreen – if at all. In this game, you will spend most of your time deciding what tools to give your burglars (screenshot of the main “Inventory” screen where you can give your crooks the tools they will need) and what path they should follow to do what they are supposed to. This is much more complicated than you might think as there are several tools to choose from, with different parameters.

Cards With Spells: Orions

By: Werner R.

UPDATE (08/16/2007): it has just been released!!! GO GET IT!

All serious Pocket PC gamers know Orions: Legend of Wizards, by far the BEST Turn-based strategy game for the platform, of which I’ve published a Strategy Guide HERE. The homepage of the game is HERE. Unfortunately, there's (still?) no trial version; hopefully, this will be fixed now. However, I think you'll be absolutely pleased with the upgrade, even if you can't play the trial: for $9.95, it's quite a bargain. That is, just go and purchase the update - you won't regret it.

Never Will Be: Pyromania

By: Ben Stanley

I've had a chance to thoroughly test a lot of great games during this year's Smartphone & Pocket PC Magazine Awards judging phase, but I can't help thinking that one game is missing. I'm referring to what is undoubtedly the most promising Windows Mobile game that was never released: Pyromania.

Read on only if you're prepared for immense disappointment at the fact that this game will never be released...
