    Black & White: BlackFlip

BlackFlip is an odd little game based on a title called Polarium for the Nintendo DS. Sort of like Tetris but more cerebral, the game has you flip tiles from black to white or white to black (the only two colors used on the game board). The idea is to clear rows by turning them all to the same color in order to make room for falling tiles. Levels also include gray tiles which can be used to flip disconnected groups.

I found the game counterintuitive at first and actually a bit hard to learn. The game includes a ton of  puzzles, each with unique designs. One of the neat features is that each puzzle has its own difficulty rating from one to five stars. The game doesn't really include any help features (apart from a video), so you pretty much have to figure it out on your own (it's actually not as easy as it sounds, at least not at first, even though the game's description makes it sound that way).

At this point (the game is still in beta), BlackFlip is fairly bare bones and doesn't have much audiovisual stimulation. The big gripe I had with it at this point is that my taskbar for some reason levitates to the center of the screen while I'm playing the game. Talk about annoying!  That made the game hard to figure out and very impractical to play.

This would be a deal-breaker in a final release, but I'm sure this issue will be fixed before the game goes final. As it is, the game has potential but really needs to do more to engage the player audiovisually. Although I haven't played the original, the game is a successful idea that may prove to be a good title on the Pocket PC.
